Litecoin is one of the oldest Proof of Work cryptocurrencies, launched in 2011 as a faster version of Bitcoin. It uses the Scrypt algorithm and, on EMCD, is mined together with Dogecoin through merged mining.
Litecoin network parameters
| Parameter | Value |
| Algorithm | Scrypt |
| Block time | About 2.5 minutes |
| Block reward | 6.25 LTC until the next halving, expected in 2027 |
| Maximum supply | 84 million LTC |
LTC + DOGE merged mining
Since 2014, Dogecoin has supported merged mining with Litecoin. A Scrypt ASIC connected to the pool works on both chains at once: every hash counts toward LTC and DOGE, with no extra power consumption. That's why Scrypt profitability calculators add up earnings from both coins. EMCD also runs a pool for Pepecoin, another Scrypt coin.
What hardware you need
A Scrypt ASIC. GPUs and CPUs can't compete at current network difficulty.
Why mine Litecoin with EMCD
- LTC + DOGE merged mining on a single device.
- Fees from 1.5% and daily payouts.
- Rewards for each coin shown separately in the dashboard.
- 24/7 support.
The payout model and minimum payout are listed in the table on this page.
The economics of Litecoin mining
When you mine Litecoin, your income comes from two coins at once: LTC and DOGE. Dogecoin often makes up a significant share of the total, so when you evaluate a Scrypt miner, look at the combined revenue rather than LTC alone. The pool calculator takes both coins into account.
The next Litecoin halving, expected in 2027, will cut the LTC block reward from 6.25 to 3.125 LTC, while Dogecoin's reward stays fixed. After that, DOGE will make up an even larger part of a Scrypt miner's income. For payouts, you need two separate addresses: a Litecoin address, usually starting with «L», «M», or «ltc1», and a Dogecoin address starting with «D».
