Zcash is a Proof of Work cryptocurrency with optional private transactions based on zero-knowledge proofs. It's mined with Equihash ASICs, so you don't need to change your setup if you already run this type of hardware.

What hardware you need
An Equihash ASIC. If you're interested in other coins with dedicated ASICs, EMCD also runs pools for Kaspa and Dash.
How PPLNS payouts work
Under the PPLNS model, rewards are distributed when the pool finds a block, based on the most recent shares submitted by miners. Daily earnings can vary more than under fixed-rate models, but over the long term they follow the pool's actual results. PPLNS works best for miners who keep their hardware connected consistently, since frequent switching between pools reduces your share of rewards.
Pool payouts are sent to a transparent Zcash address (t-address). Shielded addresses aren't supported for payouts, but once funds arrive you can move them to a shielded address from your own wallet if you want more privacy. GPU mining isn't profitable on Zcash: the network is dominated by Equihash ASICs.
