Bitcoin Cash launched in 2017 as a fork of Bitcoin focused on fast payments and low fees. It uses the same SHA-256 algorithm, so you can mine it with the same ASICs you use for Bitcoin.
Bitcoin Cash network parameters
| Parameter | Value |
| Algorithm | SHA-256 |
| Block time | About 10 minutes |
| Block reward | 3.125 BCH plus transaction fees |
| Difficulty adjustment | Every block, using the ASERT algorithm |
| Maximum supply | 21 million BCH |
BCH or BTC: how to choose
Because both use SHA-256, the same ASIC can mine either BCH or BTC. Which one pays more depends on price and network difficulty, so compare them in the pool calculator. If you mine BTC on EMCD, you also earn Fractal Bitcoin rewards through merged mining.
Why mine Bitcoin Cash with EMCD
- Fees from 1.5% and daily payouts.
- Dashboard with hashrate, miner status, and rewards.
- Watcher links and API for sharing stats.
- In-house firmware for Antminer devices.
- 24/7 support.
The payout model and minimum payout are listed in the table on this page.
Switching between BCH and BTC
Because Bitcoin Cash adjusts difficulty every block with the ASERT algorithm, it reacts within hours when hashrate moves between BCH and BTC. Profitability gaps between the two coins therefore tend to close quickly, and switching back and forth rarely pays off. It's more practical to compare both coins in the calculator from time to time and choose based on your longer-term view.
Switching itself is simple: your ASIC settings stay the same, and you only change the pool connection details and the payout address. Make sure you use a Bitcoin Cash address, usually in the CashAddr format starting with «bitcoincash:q», and never a BTC address. Funds sent to an address on the wrong network may be lost.
